Battle of North Africa [dvd]

2011
DVDs and BluRay
Presented in two parts, this portrayal of the war in Northern Africa uses clips from archival documentary and fiction films. The war for control of North Africa raged for two and a half years with Axis and Allied armies seesawing across North Africa. The war in the eastern desert pitted Italian and later Rommel's Afrika Corp against British forces in Egypt. At stake was the control of the Suez Canal, vital to British shipping and the allied war effort. The war in the western desert lasted seven months. Caught between two opposing armies, the Afrika Corp retreated steadily in the face of superior Allied forces.
