Coloured print of Congdon cottage.In 1906 George Congdon and his family moved from Kalgoorlie to Spearwood and purchased land in Mell Road where he built a small cottage for his family. In 1923 he started a quarry in Newton Street and named the firm W.G.Congdon Lime and Stone Merchants.His son sold the property in 1939 but for many years the cottage in Mell Road was left in a derelict state and was finally demolished in 1994.
